Allegra
Violin | Piano | Voice Instructor
Allegra is a songwriter, vocalist, pianist, and violinist. As the daughter of a guitarist, she has been exposed to music since a very young age. She attended Highland Hall Waldorf School in Northridge, CA, where a strong music program provided performance opportunities such as playing violin with Melissa Etheridge, singing with Steve Porcaro of Toto, and opening for Stephen Stills. While in Waldorf, she began studying classical violin and continued playing in orchestras throughout college, as well as in pit bands for musicals including Heathers and Spring Awakening.
Allegra graduated from Los Angeles Pierce College, where she earned an A.A. in Behavioral Sciences, an A.A. in Liberal Arts, and participated in the Applied Music Program, where she privately studied classical voice. In 2018, she transferred to California State University Northridge where she earned a B.A. in Music Industry Studies with a Minor in Dance Kinesiology Performance. As a hybrid Business/Performance major, she took specialized classes such as music technology, copyright and contract negotiation, and business law as well as the regular music requirements.
She participated in several college ensembles, including CSUN’s award-winning a cappella group, Acasola. During her two years in Acasola, the group competed in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Semifinals and the Los Angeles A Cappella Festival, opened for Disney’s DCappella, and performed at several CSUN events. She spent her senior
year as Acasola club president and working for Al McKay, the original guitarist of Earth, Wind & Fire.
Allegra has also been performing as a solo artist since she was 11 and continues to perform at local venues. She began teaching in 2018, and combines her professional career with her passion for education. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing how much joy and sense of accomplishment learning provides children.
Currently, she is working on recording and releasing her original music.
